The Mono Jacks
BIO
THE MONO JACKS are an AltRock band known for their electrifying performances and contagious live chemistry. Experience them live once - either a club gig or a festival show (such as Sziget, Exit Festival, Eurosonic Noorderslag, Electric Castle, Rocanotherworld, ARTMania, TIFF) - and you’ll definitely want to see them again.
The band was founded in 2008 by Doru Trăscău, the lead singer and the spiritual drive behind the project (also known as the voice and image of the early 2000’s Romanian grunge icons AB4 - winners of the MTV European Music Awards in 2003). THE MONO JACKS’ debut album „Now In Stereo” was released in 2010, enjoying an enthusiastic response, thanks to singles such as „Maria” and „Come Back Girl”. The debut was closely followed by the EP „Fortunes” in late 2011, with the breakaway hit single „Gândurile” quickly becoming a fan favourite.
Over the next years, the band went through various phases - from breaks, breakups and hiatus to line-up changes, restarts and reigniting the flame - releasing a few singles in the process (“Tablou”, “Drumul”, “Un Sfert De Secunda”). In 2017 THE MONO JACKS followed up with the sophomore album “Ușor Distorsionat”, with Andrei Zamfir (guitar), Cristian Chiru (bass), and John Ciurea (drums) joining Doru Trăscău (vocals, guitar). The newfound chemistry produced another hit single, "1000 de DA", and marked a fresh new beginning for THE MONO JACKS.
The band went on to release an album every other three years ("Gloria" in 2020 and their latest gem, "Norul Nouă", 2023), making bold statements with sold-out gigs (400 tickets sold out in less than two minutes), performances in some of Romania’s biggest concert venues (Sala Palatului), touring accompanied by a full orchestra and - obviously - with their music, seamlessly blending melancholy and angst, delivering stories sung with an unmistakable passion.
