ROBIN PROCA

Andrei “Robin” Proca is the lead vocalist, guitarist, and founder of the Romanian band Robin and the Backstabbers, one of the most highly regarded acts on Romania’s alternative music scene. He was born on November 8, 1981, in Harghita County, and received the nickname “Robin” back in high school, inspired by the character from Radiohead’s Paranoid Android music video.

Robin founded Robin and the Backstabbers in 2010, following a one-week solo journey through the Călimani Mountains—an experience that strongly shaped the band’s artistic identity. Initially conceived as a cover band, the project quickly evolved into an original act, becoming known for its distinctive style of melodramatic pop—a blend of intense emotion, poetic lyrics, and eclectic rock arrangements.

As the band’s creative leader, Robin is recognized for his distinctive voice and introspective artistic approach. His music explores deep themes—from frustration and longing to existential reflection—and reflects a powerful, personal worldview. Under his leadership, the band has released multiple albums and hit songs that resonated strongly with audiences, cementing its place in the alternative music landscape.
