THE SEA OF GOOD DEEDS

The seventh edition of the Rocanotherworld festival brought to the more than 15,000 participants four days of concerts, improvisation and play, debates and sports activities for children and adults – climbing board, kayaks, paddle boards and wakeboards, as well as a collection for the stray animals from the shelters in Iași.

The festival took place outdoors, between June 23-26, at the Brizo nautical base in the Aroneanu leisure area in Iași and had 16 bands on the main stage; 11 DJs on the electronic music scene, which was curated by three local promoters: Cyclic, Techno Wall and Dubla; 4 DJs on the silent disco stage and more than 10 artists involved in jam sessions, improvisation and interactive and participatory performances supported by Cercul Intreg from Cluj. The main stage concerts were streamed live on the festival’s Facebook page and those of its partners, and were watched online by over 70,000 people.

CAUSE SUPPORTED

Kindness has no borders, and we have proven this by supporting Ukrainian refugees and organizations dealing with official camps. Together with Kaufland, more than 10 tons of cleaning, hygiene and non-perishable food products and more than 7,000 portions of food have been donated to date. Together with Trei Vieti, we reactivated the Donors’ Fund, which supports hospitals in Ukraine with medical equipment, medicines and supplies.

Friends from “Do you have a blanket?” were also present at this edition, where they collected approximately 230 kilograms of wet and dry food for the puppies and cats from the Iași paddocks, care products and monetary donations. The festival doubled the donations collected in this campaign from its supporters.

ZERO WASTE

We continued the festival’s mission to become as Zero Waste as possible, and thus all the plastic in the food & drinks area was replaced with biodegradable materials, recyclable waste was collected separately, and 90% of the ambient lighting was due to renewable energy produced by photovoltaic panels. Materials from previous editions were also reused, textiles were customized through bio-dyeing, and the new materials were biodegradable and reusable.

To help reduce the carbon footprint, the use of alternative transport has been encouraged (by installing a parking lot with a bicycle rack right at the entrance) and the public transport schedule has been extended until 03.00, with regular routes to and from the city, provided with the help of the City Hall Iași Municipality and the Iași Public Transport Company. Also in the direction of Zero Waste, the organizers encouraged the presence of local producers in the food area. In addition, the communication of the event took place through digital channels (DOOH), abandoning the classic promotion through banners, flyers, billboards, etc.
